    First Nations’ Elder, Florence James of the Penelakut band, dedicates 76 hectares on the western shore of Galiano Island. After years of discussions, the previously privately held land was acquired by Galiano Conservancy, a community-based non-profit society dedicated to protect the natural and human environment on Galiano Island, British Columbia.
